I think Morgan and Chuck couldn’t have made my 4AM alarm better. I spent the morning with these two walking around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. and Old Town Alexandria capturing their engagement photos, and let me tell you, it was such a fun time. I didn’t even feel like I got less sleep than usual (it was probably the Starbucks though, let’s be honest).
Cole and Cherith’s Marion, Maryland wedding was the perfect mix of southern comfort and elegance. Their simple and classy DIY decorations were my favorite part of capturing their reception hall. I’m a detail-capturing gal, so you know I got many photos of the little things!
Cherith’s bridesmaids were all so sweet, helpful, and excited to be a part of this exciting time in the couple’s life! Their reaction when Cherith stepped into her dream dress was priceless. The entire bridal party’s excitement and joy were contagious, making every single person around them laugh.
Tons of Cole and Cherith’s friends and family gathered together to celebrate the love these two share. Their wedding reception, held at the Elks Lodge in Crisfield, consisted of navy blue and light pink accent colors, complete with a candy bar (my favorite) and a disco ball that got guests up and moving on the dance floor.
During the reception, you could feel the community and love in the room. Not just from Cherith and Cole, but from everyone. Their sense of support and happiness from the couple radiated into every square inch, making for a joyful night for all who attended. The couple exited the evening with a sparkler exit and a classic car decorated with “Just Married” stickers.
Cole and Cherith’s family’s supportive and loving nature was captured throughout the entire day, especially when Cherith’s grandfather officiated the ceremony. Cherith’s grandparents’ marriage of 65+ years is the perfect example of unconditional love. When asked what the secret is to such a long marriage, he answered, “keep your big mouth shut” >> (good advice, am I right?)
This. This is the reason I love what I do. Growing up, marriage was taught as a symbol of Christ’s love and bond for us — the fact that we get to share our life and love with another person who just gets us makes the idea of marriage so much more amazing than we ever thought it could be. Being a wedding photographer sometimes means being a dress fluffer, confidence booster, and the occasional dress hanger, but it also means showing Christ’s love toward one another and encouraging that in my couples. I love that I get to spend my days both pursuing my passion and seeing the love of God blossom from couple to couple.
Cole and Cherith:
thank you for welcoming me into your family and treating me like you’ve known me forever. The kindness, hospitality, and love you and your families showed me this past weekend was unlike anything I’ve experienced. Thank you for allowing me to capture an amazing and momentous day for you both, it’s truly an honor. It’s always wonderful to see two people in love, but you both hold something beyond that. I can’t wait to see how you grow as one and build a future together. I hope you enjoy a few of my many favorites of your special day!
